Select your pension scheme and enter the relevant salary, corpus, qualifying service and other details to get an estimated monthly pension and a detailed calculation breakdown.
Since OPS, NPS and UPS follow different benefit structures, the calculator uses a separate calculation method for each scheme.

Calculation Formula
This calculator provides an estimate for informational purposes only. Actual pension depends on the applicable Government rules, qualifying service, emoluments, pension scheme, retirement circumstances and official service records. For NPS, the pension shown depends on the corpus, annuity percentage and annuity rate entered by the user. The actual annuity offered by an Annuity Service Provider may differ. For UPS, the assured payout and any applicable reduction due to final withdrawal are subject to the applicable UPS rules and conditions. The result should not be treated as an official pension sanction or payment statement.
How Does the Pension Calculator Work?
How Does the Government Employee Pension Calculator Work?
The calculator first asks you to select your applicable pension scheme:
- OPS / CCS Pension
- NPS
- UPS
The required information and calculation method change according to the selected scheme.
OPS
For OPS, the calculator uses the applicable Basic Pay, Average Emoluments and qualifying service to estimate the Basic Pension. Current Dearness Relief can also be entered to estimate the pension including DR.
NPS
For NPS, pension depends primarily on the accumulated NPS corpus, the percentage used for annuity purchase and the expected annuity rate.
The calculator automatically links the annuity and lump-sum percentages:
Lump Sum % = 100% − Annuity %
UPS
For UPS, the calculator uses the average Basic Pay of the last 12 months and qualifying service to estimate the assured payout. An optional Final Withdrawal scenario can also be entered for an estimated impact.
How is OPS Pension Calculated?
Under the applicable CCS pension framework, the pension calculation is based on the relevant emoluments and qualifying service.
For estimation, the calculator compares:
50% of Last Basic Pay
and
50% of Average Emoluments
and uses the applicable higher amount, subject to the prescribed pension limits and conditions.
The calculator then adds the current DR entered by the user to show an estimated Pension + DR.
Note: The calculator is an estimation tool. Actual pension is determined according to the applicable Government rules and the employee’s official service records.
How is NPS Pension Calculated?
NPS pension is not calculated like OPS pension. It depends on the retirement corpus and the portion used to purchase an annuity.
The calculator uses:
Annuity Corpus = Total NPS Corpus × Annuity %
Then:
Estimated Annual Pension = Annuity Corpus × Expected Annuity Rate
And:
Estimated Monthly Pension = Annual Pension ÷ 12
The remaining corpus is shown as the lump-sum amount.
NPS Exit Options
For the calculator, two scenarios are provided:
Normal Retirement / Superannuation
- Minimum 40% annuity
- Remaining amount as lump sum
Premature Exit / VRS
- Minimum 80% annuity
- Remaining amount as lump sum
The annuity and lump-sum percentages are automatically linked in the calculator.
UPS Pension Calculation
How is UPS Pension Calculated?
The UPS assured payout is based on the average Basic Pay of the last 12 months and qualifying service.
The calculator uses the UPS formula:
Assured Payout = ½ × P × Q ÷ 300
Where:
P = Average Basic Pay of the last 12 months
Q = Qualifying Service in months
For 25 years of qualifying service, Q reaches 300 months and the full formula gives 50% of the applicable average Basic Pay, subject to the applicable UPS rules and conditions.
For qualifying service below 25 years, the payout is proportionately calculated.
UPS Final Withdrawal
यह section जरूर रखें क्योंकि calculator में हमने इसे option दिया है।
What is UPS Final Withdrawal?
The calculator provides an optional estimate for the impact of Final Withdrawal under UPS.
Final Withdrawal is a benefit separate from the assured payout. Its actual eligibility, amount and impact on payout depend on the applicable UPS rules, corpus/benchmark corpus and other prescribed conditions.
Therefore, the result shown by this calculator should be treated as an illustrative estimate only, not as an official UPS benefit calculation.
Important Notes
- This calculator is primarily designed for Central Government employees and is intended for estimation and informational purposes.
- OPS, NPS and UPS have different pension structures, so the calculator uses separate calculation methods for each scheme.
- The actual pension payable depends on the applicable Government rules, qualifying service, emoluments, retirement conditions and official service records.
- For OPS, the calculator uses the information entered by the user for Last Basic Pay, Average Emoluments, Qualifying Service and Current DR.
- For NPS, the estimated pension depends on the NPS corpus, annuity percentage and expected annuity rate entered by the user.
- In NPS, changing the Annuity Purchase % automatically changes the Lump Sum %.
- For normal NPS retirement, the calculator uses a minimum 40% annuity assumption.
- For the premature exit/VRS scenario, the calculator uses a minimum 80% annuity assumption.
- The actual annuity income under NPS depends on the annuity product, provider and rate available at the time of purchase.
- For UPS, the calculator uses the average Basic Pay of the last 12 months and qualifying service to estimate the assured payout.
- UPS Final Withdrawal is shown separately and should not be confused with pension, gratuity or NPS lump-sum withdrawal.
- The UPS Final Withdrawal section is intended only for estimation. Actual reduction in assured payout depends on the applicable UPS provisions and prescribed calculation methodology.
- The calculator does not calculate Gratuity. Gratuity is available through our separate Government Employee Gratuity Calculator.
- The calculator does not calculate Commutation of Pension. Commutation will be covered separately through our Commutation Calculator.
- The calculator does not calculate income tax, TDS or other deductions from pension.
- The result should not be treated as an official Pension Payment Order (PPO), sanction order or guaranteed future pension.
